This coming weekend on Saturday, June 29 in Rauma, Finland, I’m one of the main organizers behind the biggest, international pro wrestling supershow in the Nordics of Europe this summer: Wrestle Aid 2019!

Womens Triple Threat RAUMA

With top professional wrestlers from nine different countries worldwide, this event is arguably – even on paper alone – the most significant show of its kind on a continental level.

“The Japanese Buzzsaw” Yoshihiro Tajiri and Meiko Satomura from Japan, Matt Cross from the USA, Ivelisse Veléz from Puerto Rico, Scotty Davis from Ireland, Jurn Simmons from Holland, Sadie Gibbs from England, Mikk Vainula from Estonia and Carlos Zamora from Spain join a host of Finnish professionals to bring you Wrestle Aid.  Oh, and in case you are wondering, Yours Truly represents my home country of Canada at this big event.

With seven matches on the card and two gigantic, intercontinental main events on the menu, Wrestle Aid offers something for everyone, and especially action and thrills for the whole family.

Part of ticket proceeds will be going to the Finnish Muscular Dystrophy Association, Lihastautiliitto, to help patients with ALS and Duschenne muscular dystrophy to take part in wheelchair sports while their condition still warrants it.  This is a great cause and you really can make a difference by being an active part of it live!

The event will be held outdoors under the Finnish blue sky at Potkur shopping center on the rooftop of the establishment in the western coastal city of Rauma, Finland this coming Saturday, June 29.  Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster in Finland so get yours now and come out to see the greatest live action spectacle in Earth!

Also, I’ve got some huge news for you all!  The next super-spectacular SLAM! Wrestling Finland event happens on June 29 this summer on the West Coast of Finland in Rauma.  It’s called Wrestle Aid 2019 and part of the proceeds are going to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation (Lihastautiliitto Ry) in Finland to help those with ALS and Duschenne Muscular Dystrophy to partake in sports while their situation still warrants it.

It’s a fantastic cause, and you certainly should be supporting this big event and the ethical framework of its intent.  We’ve got top wrestlers coming in from eight different countries for Wrestle Aid: TAJIRI from Japan, Ivelisse from Puerto Rico, Matt Cross from the USA, Jurn Simmons from Holland, Chris Ridgeway and Sadie Gibbs from England, Shanna from Portugal and several others are slated to appear in action on June 29 at the biggest, international pro wrestling mega-event of the summer in the Nordics of Europe!

Tickets for Wrestle Aid are NOW AVAILABLE through Ticketmaster in Finland HERE.

This past Friday, March 22 in Helsinki, my SLAM! Wrestling Finland organisation promoted its Mega Launch event, streamed live across all the land on ISTV before a rambunctious live, capacity audience!

I can honestly say that this was the biggest pro wrestling supercard on an international level to date here in the Nordics, with 10 countries represented in a bevy of different, dynamic matches.

We had Miss BumBum 2018, Tanja Sundell, in the role of the official interviewer for the wrestlers.  We had the D Diamonds dance duo as our official SLAM! ring girls, and we had the added beef of former European welterweight boxing champion, Juho Haapoja, on hand to officiate my match.

In the opener, the Finnish team of Jami Aalto and Polar Pekko bested the Estonian Boyz, Kert Kukka and Big Mikk Vainula.  A very highspot-oriented match that worked perfectly to light up the audience and get them ready for the rest of the night.  In the end, Pekko hit his Shooting Star Press on Kukk, after which Aalto nailed a huge Frog Splash to spell the coup de gras for the Estonian contingent.

In the second match, “The Stockholm Playboy” Ken Malmsteen fell to Finland’s “Metal Warrior” Stark Adder in a hard-fought match when the Swede’s cocky arrogance cost him the match.  Malmsteen accosted one of the SLAM! Girls dancers, Alicia, after trying to make a move on her during his ring entrance.  Malmsteen dragged Alicia into the ring, but she fought her way free by booting him between the uprights, leading to Stark Adder capitalizing for the pin.  Malmsteen really should focus more on his opponent and less on the ladies outside the ring during his matches.

In the third match, Russia’s Ivan Markov got the duke over Finland’s “Wildman” Heimo Ukonselkä in a Hardcore match.  Granted, Ivan seemed to throw some kind of powder into Heimo’s eyes en route to a tainted victory, but this was a No-DQ environment.  Anything goes, and thereby Markov’s win is a win.  Tons of weapons were used during this melee and I’m sure the guys will be feeling the effects of this encounter over the ensuing week!

Hungary’s big man, “Renegade” David Turger, defeated “The Karelian Ghost” Shemeikka in powerful fashion with a sky-high powerbomb.  This was a classic bigger man vs. smaller man match-up, and the dynamic was certainly to be felt.  Turger’s power and veteran experience just proved to be too much in the end, although Shemeikka put up a valiant fight.

_TM72551

In the fifth match, Yours Truly, “The Rebel” StarBuck, was able to defeat Italy’s Fabio Ferrari after he made the cardinal mistake of attempting to instigate the special guest referee for our match, former pro boxing champion, Juho Haapoja.  Haapoja had warned both of us prior to the match, that if we put our hands on him at any point, he would respond physically.  Well, it seems the hot-head that Ferrari is, he forgot the warning and lashed out at Haapoja in frustration, after which Juho whallopped him good with a right cross.  I saw the opening and took the pinfall opportunity that was handed to me.  Better luck next time, Fabio!

_TM72681

In the sixth encounter, the UK Queen of Southside women’s championship was up on the line as champion Shanna of Portugal successfully defended her title against Natalia Markova of Russia and Betty Rose of Sweden.  After a feisty and furious all against all match, Shanna hit a devastating top rope double foot stomp on Betty, who was tied up in the ropes by her feet.  A picture says more than a thousand words and here’s the proof…

_TM73418

In the seventh match of the night, the main event say England’s Tiny Iron challenge Germany’s Demolition Davies for the WAW European Heavyweight Championship out of the UK.  This was a colossal King Kong vs. Godzilla match-up, with both brutes laying in the heavy lumber as the ring shook.  In the end, Davies was saved from what appeared to be certain doom by the interference of Ivan Markov and David Turger, who assaulted Tiny Iron, causing the referee to disqualify Davies.  Heimo Ukonselkä and StarBuck made the save, helping Tiny Iron clear the ring of his assailants.

Without doubt, this was the biggest independent, international-scale pro wrestling card to be held to date in the Nordics of Europe.  With national TV exposure and a ton of mainstream press, SLAM! Wrestling Finland hit a home run with Mega Launch!

All this week, we’ll be celebrating the event that was SLAM! Wrestling Finland Mega Launch on our Facebook and Instagram pages, posting one match photo gallery per day for your viewing pleasure.  Follow us and help support the hottest pro wrestling organisation in northern Europe today!

I’d also like to share this superb, inspiring piece about SLAM! Wrestling Finland’s co-operation with metal industry manufacturer Power Tech Group here in Finland regarding the construction of our top-notch SLAM! Wrestling ring.  This is something that will put a smile on your face and leave you feeling good, guaranteed:

This past Saturday, November 24, in the city of Kotka, I entered a new phase of life.  One which saw me embark on a the beginning of a new chapter with my SLAM! Wrestling Finland company.  Because yesterday, we pulled off our maiden voyage with SLAM!

I recall my father saying to me back when I was a younger man, that one day he believed I’d be a leader, a boss.  He saw that stock in my persona and character.  I kept his words in mind as I traveled down the roads of life, feeling in my heart that one day, indeed, I would become what he believed back then.

I look at my life at the age of 45 and I draw parallels to my old friend Chris Jericho and the lessons to be learned from his life over the past couple of years.  Chris left WWE on the top of the mountain, as a favorably featured main star on RAW.  He dropped the Intercontinental Championship to Kevin Owens at Wrestlemania 33 and then left the company riding the high wave.  Chris hooked up with his old buddies Jado and Gedo, the bookers of New Japan Pro Wrestling, and orchestrated a deal for him to come in to NJPW and become a lead star for the second biggest wrestling company on the planet.  To this day, he holds their IWGP Intercontinental title and just sold out his own Jericho Cruise, which was highly touted in the media.

Now Chris could have chosen to stay with WWE after Wrestlemania 33 but he chose not to.  In retrospect, I think I can assess his situation: he had done everything he could for that company.  He’d been a multi-time WWE Champion, holding a plethora of titles, and at the age of 46 back then, he surely understood that his days as a regularly featured talent were coming to a close.  The younger stars of today were coming up fast, being pushed hard, and the older stars would need to take supporting roles before long.  So the question really seemed to be: do I spin my wheels and remain here, collecting a nice payday, or do I want to grow as a human being and see how else I could spread my wings beyond what I’ve already achieved?

As I’ve gotten older, I understand this train of thought perfectly.  Like life coach Tony Robbins often says, out of the seven basic human needs, the last two are the needs of the spirit: the need to contribute and the need to grow.  I can underline this with clarity.

Here in 2018, it was time for me to take an honest look at my life and ask myself the pivotal question: what do I want to do with my life from hereon forward?  How do I see myself facilitating a living for my family and myself in the future?  Where do my talents lie, and should I venture off into a new field and trade, or should I attempt to make a living utilizing and doing what I already know over the course of accrued life experience?  I chose the latter.

And so it was, that last night in the city of Kotka at Power Tech Group‘s annual pre-Christmas party, SLAM! Wrestling Finland was launched upon the world.  It was done under the most optimal, high-class circumstances possible: professional lighting and sound, customized entrance way, a fresh and new audience that was excited to be there, and a card of pro wrestling action featuring the best, carefully-selected talents for each match that would facilitate a fun and dynamic night of action for everyone on hand.

Thank you, Power Tech Group, for not only sponsoring and making our SLAM! Wrestling Finland ring, but also for giving us the stage and spotlight to set forth on the waters of live entertainment service providers in the Nordic sector!

This is only the beginning.

Over the past year or so I have mulled over possibly starting my very own service revolving around pro wresting.  This summer, I decided to go for broke, as they say, and launch SLAM! Wrestling Finland.

SLAM! Wrestling Finland banner

SLAM! is an on-demand service that offers the client buying the show to choose the kinds of wrestlers that they’d want to see at their event.  Be it the muscular beefcake, the monsterous leviathan, the high-flier, female wrestlers, whatever it may be, we SLAM! Wrestling Finland supplies that demand and need.

The client also gets to decide what types of matches they want to see and host: singles matches, championship matches, tag team matches, Triple Threat matches, etc.  Plus, the client decides how many matches in total they wish to have at their event.

This approach to professional wrestling is revolutionary and I believe it offers people something completely outside the box.  Take a look at the just-released Story Behind SLAM! video below to get depth into the saga leading up to this venture:

Also be sure to take a look at our promotional trailer detailing the offering made possible through SLAM! Wrestling Finland:

The unique thing about SLAM! Wrestling Finland is that it puts the power into the client’s hands.  The client becomes the promoter and is able to get exactly the kind of product that they want for their money.

With my 25-years in the pro wrestling industry worldwide, I can get you, as the client, any kind of wrestler that you would like (outside of WWE, the talents of which are exclusively bound to only work for WWE).  You set the budget, we supply the line-up.  It’s as simple as that.

SLAM Wrestling Finland Betty Rose Tiny Iron Shanna

Clients can choose from attractive top European female wrestlers like Betty Rose from Sweden (left) or Shanna of Portugal (right), or monster men like Tiny Iron, who is a former bodyguard of popular musical artists such as The Black-Eyed Peas, Beyoncé and 50 Cent!

I did an extensive interview with my birth country Canada’s top internet sports media, SLAM! Sports, for their website.  Journalist Blaine Van Der Griend went to extensive lengths, cross-checking and getting the low-down from some influential people that have seen my pro wrestling career sparkle in Japan.  This piece of media is really a treat, folks.  The gloves come off here, so sit back, take 15-minutes and read some good inside stuff: http://slam.canoe.com/Slam/Wrestling/2015/07/05/22488981.html

Thanks again to SLAM! Sports for this feature, and a big shout-out to all my Canadian compatriots out there!  Reach for the stars, eh!!!
